Oahu trip, June 2018 Part 1

So, yes, I did just get back from a girl's trip to New York City. Had a few days rest, unpacked, repacked, and got on a plane for Hawaii! I was going to sleep at 3 am in NY, and figured I'd just stay on California time. Oahu is 3 hours earlier than CA, so I was going to bed at 9 or 10 pm :-)

Anyway, we landed in Oahu in the late afternoon, and planned to go eat, but none of us were hungry. So we picked up our rental car and headed to our resort, stopping at Foodland for some eats. My daughter still fondly remembers eating on the lanai last time, 3 years ago. So here is our view, with some bento and musubi!

We went down to check out the beach and I watched the sunset.

The next day, we hung around the condo, and got some beach and pool time in. Then we met Auntie Harue for lunch at Shiro's Saimin in Waipahu. Followed by our first shave ice stop, at Baldwin's Sweet Shop. Kalina also wanted to visit this shop called Pink Box, that had some squishy toys. They didn't have many, but she loved all the hair accessories and cute items. We also shopped a bit at Pearlridge Mall. Of course, we had to pick up some hot malasadas from the Leonard's truck at Waikele outlets.

The next day, we got up early and headed to Hanauma Bay! I hadn't been there since I was 12, and it has changed quite a bit. The water was colder than I remember, and the water much cloudier. I didn't see as many fish, but I also probably have more fear of the deep ocean than before too.

Then we hit Rainbow Drive-In to share a yummy plate lunch! Followed by shave ice next door at Shimazu Store.

After freshening up at the condo, we had dinner reservations down the beach, at the Disney Aulani resort. Buffet time!
