For the first time in this trip, I slept in! Yay! We got a late start, and used our rail pass to go to Fushimi Inari Shrine. It's very popular, as it seemed all the tourists got off and made the same trek as we did.
It is such a beautiful place. We walked down the shopping street... There is always a shopping street... And stopped for an early lunch. I had oyako donburi, because I haven't had that in Japan yet. K had tempura udon, and hubby had cold soba noodles.
We got shaved ice because it was stinking hot out, and then headed back to Kyoto station, and got all day bus passes. 500¥ adult, 250¥ for K. Took the bus to Kiyomizudera temple, and headed up the hill.
So many people dress up and walk around Kyoto, like these girls.
K was looking a bit flushed, and the humidity was kicking my butt, so we just hung out while hubby went up a bit farther. It was crazy crowded, check out the street below...
We stopped in a lovely jewelry shop, and the lady did K's hair... With a 7000¥ hair pin! K loved it, and tried others, and didn't want to leave the store.
We hopped on another bus to Ginkakuji (Temple of the Silver Pavillion), but I wanted to show K the Golden Pavillion, so we transferred, and took another bus for a long time, only to arrive minutes after closing time. We took the long trip back to the station, and grabbed take out under the station at Isetan. Tuckered out, back at our hotel by 7 pm. Tomorrow, we hope to go see the bamboo grove at Arashiyama. Stay tuned!
